December 2, 2022 – Young Island residents have an opportunity to audition for The Charlottetown Festival next week.
Confederation Centre of the Arts is hosting auditions for Munschables, a family-friendly show that is back at The Charlottetown Festival by popular demand. The high-energy production brings the exciting and silly world of children’s author Robert Munsch to life through an interactive and musical performance. The show played at the Centre’s Outdoor Amphitheatre last summer and will return to the Festival with a new selection of stories from Munsch’s beloved books.
The lively noon hour show will star an all-Islander cast, and auditions are open to non-equity Island-based performers between the ages of 16 and 30.
“Our community is full of diverse young talent, and we are going to gather an exceptional group of Islanders to bring this new summer staple to life,” says Dawn Ward, the Festival’s associate artistic director. “We are looking for performers who can bring out their silly side, so the auditions will be a workshop that allows people to play off each other.” Ward will choreograph the show and co-direct with Adam Brazier, the Centre’s artistic director of performing arts.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at The Mack (128 Great George St, Charlottetown). The auditions will take place in the form of a workshop, and candidates are not required to prepare an audition piece. Candidates are asked to submit a headshot and resume to Rosie Shaw ([email protected]), and will be contacted if they have been invited to audition.
