February 1, 2023 – Island residents have the unique opportunity to win a specially curated piece through an exclusive art lottery.
The Friends of Confederation Centre of the Arts are hosting Art Lotto, a fundraiser to support arts education programs at the Centre as well as Island artists. Each month a unique piece from an Island artist will be raffled off via a limited number of $20 tickets.
February’s featured piece is Adore, a black and white print by Robin Gislain (Gessy) Shumbusho. He is a photographer, aspiring filmmaker, and currently the art director at ZeroResistance Studios, a multi-disciplinary creative studio where he has directed multiple visual campaigns and exhibitions. Shumbusho is fascinated by the beauty of people who look like him and people with creative drive. He looks to create a platform that binds purpose and the beauty among people by telling stories through stills and motion direction.
His piece Adore is featured in While Black: a forum for speculation on what the gallery can’t hold at Confederation Centre Art Gallery.
Lottery tickets for this month are on sale February 1 – 28, or while supplies last. There are 100 tickets available each month. Tickets can be purchased online, via phone at 1-800-565-0278, or in person at the Centre’s box office while supplies last.
