(Charlottetown, PE) – After three seasons at The Charlottetown Festival, company member Trevor Patt is returning to Toronto to take on the role of Pumbaa in The Lion King with Mirvish Productions.
Audiences have seen Patt perform in Festival productions such as Evangeline, Munschables, Anne of Green Gables–The Musical™, and most recently as Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Patt’s final performance with the Festival this summer will be August 31 as he exits to begin rehearsals in Toronto.
“Trevor Patt is an exceptional talent who has delighted audiences in his various roles,” says Adam Brazier, artistic director of performing arts at Confederation Centre of the Arts. “We are sad to see him go, but this only confirms the caliber of artists performing at The Charlottetown Festival. They are in-demand on the stages across Canada and around the world.”
During September performances of Jersey Boys, the role of Bob Gaudio will be played by Jonathan Gysbers. While he is making his Festival debut, he is no stranger to the role. He has previously performed as Bob Gaudio in productions at Stage West Calgary and for Norwegian Cruise Lines, which was directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff – the original director of Jersey Boys on Broadway.
Brazier looks forward to welcoming Gysbers to the production. “His experience allows him to jump right into this role and I know he will wow audiences.”
Another 2024 Festival company member – Luc Trottier, director of Becoming Dolly – will also be joining the Toronto ensemble of The Lion King this fall.
Performances of Jersey Boys continue through September 21. Tickets can be purchased at confederationcentre.com, via phone at 1-800-565-0278, or in person at the Centre’s box office.
