The Centre for All Canadians

Choral Music

Islanders who love to sing are encouraged to join a Centre choir!

The Confederation Centre offers two choirs: the Centre’s adult choir, the Confederation Singers, and the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus. Both choirs provide musical training and performance opportunities for music-minded Islanders.

REGISTER TODAY - There are no auditions for either of the choirs. Registration forms are linked below.

The Confederation Singers

The Confederation Singers present an engaging program of music each year that spans various musical eras from the Renaissance to Baroque, and from Classical to Contemporary.

The music is exciting and beautiful, making for a challenging, enriching, and deeply satisfying musical experience for singers.   Best of all, with the rehearsal and performance of these great musical works, continuous musical learning and growth occur with the choir’s every season.

The Confederation Singers rehearse every Monday evening, 7:00-9:00 pm, upstairs in the Mack Theatre, commencing in September.   New members can join at any time of the year!

The Confederation Centre Youth Chorus

Island youth aged 8-18 years are welcome to come to join the Confederation Centre Youth Chorus.

The Confederation Centre Youth Chorus enjoys a range of concerts and appearances each and every season, culminating in the annual chorus tour. In addition to fine music-making here on PEI, the chorus has toured extensively both within Canada, the USA, and Europe.

Recent tours have seen the chorus perform in Toronto, New York City, Washington, D.C., and Florida.   The Chorus was featured in concerts in Paris and Langres, France in 2003, at Vimy Ridge for the dedication of the newly restored Canadian National Monument in 2007, at St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome (The Vatican) in 2011, and again in 2017 at The Vatican.

The Youth Chorus rehearses twice weekly, Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6:00-7:30 pm, upstairs in the MACK Theatre.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.

Relaxed Performances offered during the 2021 Charlottetown Festival:
  • I agree to receive further communications from Confederation Centre of the Arts for upcoming events, promotions and market research purposes.
