The Centre for All Canadians

Choral Music

| The Mack
The Confederation Centre of the Arts Choral Music program consists of two choirs: the Youth Chorus, for Island youth aged 8-18, and the Confederation Singers for adults. Both offer an artful and joyful approach to high-quality training for singers of all levels and aspirations. Choristers come together to sing fun, challenging, and lyrically powerful music from a broad range of styles, genres, cultures, and historical periods. Anyone who loves to sing is invited to explore the Centre’s choral opportunities!

Both ensembles are non-auditioned. Previous musical experience is an asset but not a requirement. Brief individual vocal check-ins take place over the course of each season for voice part placement and to support all singers in having the best experience possible.

Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on building healthy vocal technique, strong musicianship, and ensemble in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. We work to develop confident, capable, and collaborative choral musicians whose musical skills carry over to enrich many other aspects of their lives.

Each ensemble presents a series of annual concerts, along with additional performance opportunities and creative collaborations.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
