Confederation Centre Statement of Solidarity with Black Community Members and Colleagues

Confederation Centre of the Arts stands in solidarity with Black members of our community and around the globe.

The events of recent days have shone a light on the white supremacy and anti-black racism that pervades our society. We recognize the incredible pain, anger, and fear being experienced and offer our unreserved support. We reject white supremacy, systematic racism, violence, and injustice.

As an organization, Confederation Centre of the Arts remains committed to building a better Canada for all Canadians. We continue to learn how this work must take place. We can move forward together by witnessing, listening, and learning, and through acknowledgment and acceptance.

The Centre must evolve our understandings of equity, diversity, and inclusion; we are committed to examining our own systemic issues and addressing them. We need to do better and we are committed to finding ways to increase the diversity of voices that make up this institution.

Black Lives Matter, today and every day. We must not be silent.
