Composed of Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc from the Evangeline Region of Prince Edward Island and Pascal Miousse of the Magdalen Islands, this toe-tapping trio are both powerful francophone singers and fiery multi-instrumentalists, fusing Acadian and Celtic genres with rock and indie-folk influence. To date, they have presented over 2,000 concerts on three continents and continue to win the hearts of audiences around the world.

This Charlottetown Album Launch Show by one of the Island’s most internationally renowned group is undoubtedly an event not to be missed. With their fifteenth anniversary coming up in 2019, Vishtèn are extremely proud to present their new album, HORIZONS.

HORIZONSis a combination of original compositions that, faithful to Vishtèn’s signature style, amalgamate current and traditional musical genres, as well as traditional Acadian texts and tunes. The contagious rhythm of Vishtèn’s foot percussion and mouth music continue to merge effortlessly with the violin, guitar, accordion, mandolin, flutes, piano, bodhrán, and jaw harp, offering a musical experience that illustrates their vision of the world all while demonstrating the richness of traditional sounds. For this new album, the artists have chosen to go one step further by featuring new instruments such as the electric guitar and piano as well as extended jigs and catchy song melodies in a variety of styles, all while maintaining their usual rooted sound.

“An amalgam of music from their different cultural roots –Acadian, Mi’kmaq, Irish, Scottish, and Breton – wrapped in a bright paper that has the heft of tradition but the exuberance of pop.” – RobWeir, Sing Out!

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.

Relaxed Performances offered during the 2021 Charlottetown Festival:
