The East Pointers and Friends Read A Christmas Carol

Please Note: Following the most recent update from the CHPO, we have made the decision to cancel tonight's performance. Ticket holders will be contacted by email with further information.

From the creators of the 2021 ECMA-winning ‘#Annedemic: The East Pointers and Friends Read Anne of Green Gables’ comes a new under-rehearsed, seat of the pants live reading of a classic novel – Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ – this time to a live audience!

Tim, Jake and Koady from The East Pointers are joined by a host of festive friends for the classic story of 19th-century penury, midnight spectres, memories of boyhood loneliness, rollicking parties, glowing descriptions of grocery stores, love, regret and redemption and one memorable ‘bah-humbug’. Expect lots of laughs, stumbling and stutters over a Victorian vocabulary as this cast of characters approach their lines for the first time in a seated table-read with musical interludes – sure to become a Christmas tradition.

And for the live audience – Christmas sweaters are encouraged for adults, Christmas PJs for the kids (or vice-versa) – either way, cozy up in the Confed Centre Playhouse and get into the Christmas spirit at Fezziwig’s party, play the role of the ghosts beyond the windows, and sing carols with the gang as we try to conjure up a white Christmas for 2021.

You, Dickens and this mis-cast of characters?
It’s a Christmas miracle!

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
