“Beck clearly establishes herself here as a force to be reckoned with, both as a songwriter and as a performer.” – Doug Gallant, The Guardian

Prince Edward Island’s Rachel Beck is already making her mark on the national scene with a hit debut release. Beck’s self-titled record came out on March 2, 2018. Days later, her first single,Reckless Heart,” hit #1 on the CBC Music Top 20. “Beck’s voice is strong, reassuring. It’s what ties together her piano-pop melodies, a call in the dark that provides a safe place to land.” (CBC Music).

“My intention for this record was to combine the heart and honesty of folk with the hooks and sparkle of pop,” says Beck. “While writing the album, I looked inward more than I have ever done before: ‘When You Left’ helped me process a winter of devastating loss, ‘Fire In The Sky’ is an anthem of hope, andNothing In Between’ is a self-portrait in song.”

“A big sound from a little island.” – Raina Douris, Mornings on CBC Music

“Here’s the voice we need on those days when nothing’s right and everything sucks, and people are lousy.  Rachel Beck’s compassion and heart shine through each song, a little musical healing for us all. Gentle, made mostly from piano, strings and voice, the power’s in the humanity and understanding she puts in her songs.”– Bob Mersereau, Top 100 Canadian.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.

Relaxed Performances offered during the 2021 Charlottetown Festival:
