We have chosen to use this opportunity to pivot to a benefit concert for Ukraine, featuring music written by Ukrainian Composers, music written for Ukraine, and music which symbolizes unity and strength in adversity, including Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
What’s happening in Ukraine is objectively inhumane, as innocent civilians are being killed, injured, or forced to flee their homes by the destruction caused by the Russian invasion. In many cases those families need food, medical supplies, and shelter, and organizations including symphonies and opera houses across the world are stepping up to help raise funds for these necessities. A portion of proceeds from this concert will be put towards aiding in Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts and the audience will have the opportunity to make contributions at the event.
We know everyone was looking forward to hearing Beethoven’s 9th, as well as the Milhaud and the Balfour and we are actively working to have that music performed at a later date. Those of you who already have tickets to the April 24th concert and are interested in attending this Concert for Ukraine can simply use your existing ticket. If you’d prefer to collect a refund, contact the Confederation Centre Box Office at (902) 566-1267.
Thank you again for sticking by us through all of the uncertainty of the past several months. Your loyalty and support is felt very deeply by all of us here at the PEISO. It was not an easy winter for anyone, but now we have the opportunity to do something good for those who are in need. Please join us in April for this special fundraising concert.
