To celebrate their latest recording, the 2019 ECMA Award winners are throwing one helluva concert: a must-see ‘Super Show’ October 19 in the historic Homburg Theatre, the crown jewel venue on Prince Edward Island. Expect special guests, a thrilling set list that spans the Lions’ 15-year career arch, an electrifying visual show, and plentiful surprises—all set within one of Canada’s premium Class-A theatres, one where the Lions have collected awards and transfixed audiences at different stops along their career. This is the third ‘Super Show’ in the iconic band’s history, a visual spectacle of engaging performances and fun surprises that have been the talk of the town each time they’ve been delivered on PEI.

Prince Edward Island indie pop quartet Paper Lions released their new single “Rhythm & Gold” in late June, available for streaming now on Spotify and Apple Music. The track will be featured on the band’s new full-length album, due out October 2019.

Paper Lions has been a model of independent music success since its inception in 2004. From amassing millions of streams, to landing several tracks on NBC & ABC network shows, to finding themselves in Billboard’s Top 10 chart for fastest-growing artists in the world, the bandmates have reached milestones that most artists will never know. Now, 15 years since bursting onto the Canadian music landscape, the band is ready to acknowledge and celebrate its past, including the early days as The Chucky Danger Band. They have created an album that celebrates their rock roots from the early days of Paper Lions, but also goes deeper, creating an overview of their history: remembering their dreams from the early days, when they started making rock’n’roll.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.

Relaxed Performances offered during the 2021 Charlottetown Festival:
  • I agree to receive further communications from Confederation Centre of the Arts for upcoming events, promotions and market research purposes.
