About Janet McGarry & Friends

Janet is a 5-time “Female Vocalist of the Year” recipient at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards earning her a “Masters” in the category, and she is also a proud “Daughter of Bluegrass”, a group of International leading women in Bluegrass Music.

Serge Bernard is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, playing mandolin, guitar, fiddle, dobro, bass and his main instrument of choice – banjo. Serge is also a co-host of Bluegrass Island, a one-hour bluegrass show which airs Saturday evenings at 6pm on Tantramar Community Radio 107.9FM.

Karen & Trevor also excel at their music and have also won many awards at the ECBMA.  Karen was also honored as a Master in the Female Vocalist category while Trevor was honored as a Master in the mandolin category, and together the songs they wrote also garnered them composer of the year.

Together, they draw from the same well of traditional bluegrass and mountain-style music and are excited to share their love for the history and early sounds of the music with audiences at select dates throughout the season.

Also appearing on stage with Janet:

Gail Mullen

Gail has been singing all her life, and it’s easy to see that she’s in her element when she’s singing. She has an authentic voice from deep in the Mountains of Appalachia.  Gail’s love of old time, folk, and traditional roots music shines through.

Blake Orville Crockett is a singer/songwriter from Ebenezer, Prince Edward Island.

Proudly born and raised in Western Prince Edward Island, Blake grew up playing local talent shows, exhibitions, benefits and competitions. In 2012, he formed the country rock band Old Stone Station. Over the next five years, the band recorded and released two full length, self recorded albums of all original music.

The band received significant local radio play and were the winners of the 2017 Music PEI Award for Country Album of the Year (for the album Hostile, Heartbroken and Homesick).  During 2021 and 2022, Blake played guitar with Janet McGarry and Wildwood, a seminal PEI Bluegrass artist.

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
