Prince Edward Island is a sanctuary from modern society. The down-to-earth and sincere ambiance throughout PEI provides people of this generation a refreshed soul as well as a unique creative space. For many artists, PEI is a utopia where creative arts and spiritual awakenings unfold.

Throughout its history, PEI has always opened its arms to friends from across our lands and oceans. And for many, stepping foot on this Island evicts a strong feeling of coming home. As autumn marks a season of harvest, reunion, and thanksgiving, we hope to bring together people from different backgrounds to celebrate diversity, and share in our traditions and creations. Through art, we can understand and appreciate, discuss and discover. After all, despite our different stories, we all look upon the same perfect harvest moon at nightfall.

GEBIS, in collaboration with GWBI, has worked together with local artists from PEI, welcoming renowned artists from around the world to explore a new season of cultivation in the field of cultural exchange and artistic dialogues. Join us for a week-long celebration of music, dance, visual arts, and more!  Enjoy surprise art pieces displayed throughout Charlottetown, and a two-day finale of extraordinary performances on the main stage at the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

“Although branches, flowers, leaves, and fruits have shapes and colours of various sorts, the shadows they cast are no different.”

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.

Relaxed Performances offered during the 2021 Charlottetown Festival:
