The Atlantic String Machine, PEI’s award-winning, genre-jumping string quintet is thrilled to present the release of their second album, “The Bayfield Sessions,” with a concert. Featured on the evening will be songs from the new album, with performances by singer-songwriters Alicia Toner and Nathan Wiley, as well as Charlottetown Festival actor Cameron MacDuffee. It will be a night of celebration, a birthday party to herald the arrival of a brand new piece of art – ‘The Bayfield Sessions’. Now who doesn’t love a good birthday party, especially one with glamorous lighting and decorations, a fabulous bar, star quality singers, a live string quintet, and included in the ticket price, a sparkly new CD to bring home afterwards!‘The Bayfield Sessions’ were recorded during the week of the 2019 East Coast Music Awards. Five guest singer-songwriters are featured: Alicia Toner, Matthew Byrne, Ian Sherwood, Catherine MacLellan and Nathan Wiley. Members of the String Machine scored original arrangements of their songs for voice, two violins, viola, cello, double bass and on some tracks, guitar. Everyone, including vocalists, were tracked live off the floor, and the final product was kept true to the process, nothing added and nothing taken away. The result is an intimate portrait of six people gathered around microphones to work out an arrangement and put it on tape. Also included on the album are three instrumental covers: “Enter Sandman,” “Space Oddity,” and “Sound and Color.” Atlantic String Machine is Sean Kemp, Karen Graves, Jeffrey Bazett-Jones, Natalie Williams Calhoun, and Adam Hill.
