Statement from the Board Chair and CEO

March 9, 2022The recent atrocities in the Ukraine have served as a stark reminder of the horrors of war, and the continued effort we all must make to find peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.

Confederation Centre of the Arts encourages all Canadians to support those affected by ongoing conflict around the world. There are many organizations working to support civilians who have been so deeply affected by these conflicts. Some of them include:

  • Médecins Sans Frontières
  • UNICEF
  • Red Cross/Red Crescent

These are just a few of several organizations all over the world helping affected civilians, and especially children. They need our support now.

With all this in mind, Confederation Centre of the Arts is making a $1,000 donation to one of the many charities that support civilians in areas of conflict around the world.

May those affected by conflict find peace, resolution, and an end to the fighting.

Sincerely,

Robert Sear, Board Chair and Steve Bellamy, Chief Executive Officer

What are Relaxed Performances?

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
