-Registrations now being accepted for Visual Arts Camps, Performing Arts Camps, and Dance Camps in July and August –
Registration is opening today for Summer Art Camps for Kids at Confederation Centre of the Arts. These week-long camps will be offered in visual arts and performing arts/dance, beginning July 6 and running until August 28.
Visual Arts Camps are for children aged 6-12 years; Performing Arts Camps are for those 7-11 years; and the Dance Camps are broken up into 7-10 years or 10-12 years old. There will be no KinderArt camps offered this summer.
These long-standing programs are designed to immerse children in an enriching, professional arts setting, granting access to the Centre’s national art gallery and renowned theatre and dance facilities. Families can explore the Centre’s website for a full rundown on these separate programs.
“These camps offer children an opportunity to discover the arts and improve their skills in visual and performance mediums. They also may give many parents a much-needed break after several months without childcare during the pandemic,” explains Peggy Reddin, director of arts education. “We are working closely with the Public Health Office to ensure all proper protocols are in place to maintain the safety of students and staff while in these camps and within the Centre.”
Children will be safely spaced apart in the Centre’s larger studios or halls and class sizes will be restricted to 10-12 students, depending on the program. Further details on these and other safety measures for summer camps will be provided to parents during registration and prior to the start of each course.
“The arts are an essential pillar of every child’s education, just like math, reading, and sciences,” offers Confederation Centre CEO Steve Bellamy. “As we enter a new phase of living as a community, it is essential that children have the opportunity to exercise their imaginations, develop creativity and visual literacy, and have fun discovering new ways to look at the world.”
To register for the Summer Art Camps for Kids, or for more information, visit the the Centre’s website contact Kayla Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (902) 628-6128.
