Viola Desmond – The Soundtrack of a Life 

Qui est Viola Desmond, autre que le nouveau visage sur le billet de banque canadien de dix dollars? Qu’est-ce qui a poussé cette brillante femme d’affaires noire et lui a donné la confiance requise pour refuser de quitter la section pour blancs seulement du cinéma de Roseland, en Nouvelle-Écosse, en 1946?

La chanteuse et interprète de Vancouver Krystle Dos Santos, accompagnée à la basse par Steve et au piano par Alex Ward on piano, donne vie à Viola Desmond sur scène. C’est la musique inspirante et dynamique qui remplissait la vie et le foyer de la pionnière des droits civiques qui est source d’inspiration de ce spectacle de style cabaret. Au son de grands succès de l’époque tels  dont « Dream a Little Dream of Me », « Smile », « A Change is Gonna Come » et « Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood » le public aura l’occasion de découvrir comment les gestes d’une femme ont joué un énorme rôle dans un mouvement qui se poursuit encore aujourd’hui.

What are Relaxed Performances?

 

Sometimes referred to as sensory-friendly experiences, Relaxed Performances give the opportunity for those with various sensitivities towards sensory stimuli to experience and enjoy live theatre.

These performances will be designed in a way to be more comfortable for audience members who may experience anxiety or are not comfortable with some aspects of a traditional theatre setting. This can include people on the Autism Spectrum and their families; those with sensory and communicative disorders or learning disabilities; people with Tourette’s syndrome; someone who might need to move often due to chronic pain or to use the facilities; or even parents with toddlers.
